Inherent in the subject of Scientology and indeed the Church of Scientology, which ministers the Scientology religion, is the concept of religious, racial and ethnic tolerance; that all people are entitled to choose and practice their own religious, spiritual and cultural beliefs. It’s written into the Creed of the Church of Scientology, an extract of which follows:
“We of the Church believe:
“That all men of whatever race, color, or creed were created with equal rights;
“That all men have inalienable rights to their own religious practices and their performance…”
In a slight variation from some other systems, Scientologists believe that others’ religious and spiritual beliefs should be embraced. Those choosing to study Scientology are not asked to renounce their existing faith, if any, but are encouraged to use the Scientology philosophy to help themselves and others and, through Scientology religious practices, to increase their self-awareness and ultimately achieve an understanding of God, the Creator, or whatever concept is individually held about a “higher power” or “supreme being”.
In light of that, and as the public representative of the Church of Scientology in my area, I’ve decided to start making friends with people from the many diverse religions throughout Manchester, to learn from them, help as needed, and hopefully work together with them toward the common goals held by many religions, including improvement of the community we share.
